Booze Free Sport

Booze Free Sport is a Foundation for Alcohol Research and Education (FARE) campaign calling for unhealthy alcohol sponsors to be phased out from professional sports.

Millions of Australian children and families watch sports like the AFL, NRL, and cricket, which are saturated with alcohol promotion.

It’s becoming impossible to know where the game ends and the alcohol marketing begins.

All the evidence shows that exposure to alcohol advertising is associated with young people drinking more and from an earlier age.

That’s why FARE is calling for an end to alcohol sponsorship in sport.

We're calling on the Coalition of Major Professional and Participation Sports (COMPPS) - which includes the Australian Football League (AFL), Australian Rugby, Cricket Australia, Football Federation Australia, National Rugby League (NRL), Netball Australia, and Tennis Australia - to show leadership and phase out alcohol sponsorship of Australia's favourite games.

Please join us and sign the petition today and demand a better future for our kids.

Dear Coalition of Major Professional and Participation Sports (COMPPS),

I am sick of watching sport and constantly seeing alcohol brands everywhere.

Sadly, professional sports are saturated with alcohol promotion. It’s almost impossible to know where the game ends and the alcohol marketing begins.

Alcohol brands are in constant view, both at the grounds and on television. From the naming rights and broadcast commercials, through to your uniform branding, promotional merchandise, website, and the scoreboard, fences, and around the grounds.

When our sporting stars wear alcohol logos on their uniforms what sort of messages are they selling our kids?

Let's protect our kids by removing alcohol sponsors from Australia's favourite games.

As the governing bodies and custodians of major professional sport in Australia, I am calling on you to take action to phase out alcohol sponsorship.
